Be aware of Rogue Sellers for Yoobao Executive Genuine Leather Case for iPad 2 (V3)

We had many customers contacting us seeking advice on how to tell whether a Yoobao case is V3 or not.  Apparently, they bought the cases on eBay, Amazon or other sites because of cheaper prices, but suspected the cases they received might be counterfeits or V1/V2s.

We do what we can to educate what an authentic Yoobao case is, but sadly, the stories of customers being scammed keeps on coming.  Yesterday, on Amazon, we noticed this review and wants to share with our readers:

1.0 out of 5 starsKoolertron Ltd. Passing off V2 as V3 cases! BEWARE, August 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Yoobao Executive Genuine Leather Case V3 for iPad 2 (Accessory)

I recently decided to purchase the Yoobao Executive Leather Case after reading about the improvements made to it. For those not aware, Yoobao has issued three separate versions of this case.

Version one had issues with smell, cutouts, and poor magnet performance. Version two had improved smell, better aligned cutouts, better magnet performance, but also some issues with improper length of the cover flap. Version three corrected every issue with the previous two versions, resulting in a near perfect case from Yoobao.

Sadly, with each new version, there are lots of unsold prior versions left out there. I should have listened to my inner voice when I saw the price of $35 USD for what was described as a V3 case. I also should have went with the only seller to be an authorized retailer of Yoobao products (XenGadget).

Sadly I did not, and so as I anxiously awaited my order I educated myself on what a V3 case should look like in both terms of appearance and packaging. What arrived at my door today was clearly, a V2 case, in an altered V2 package.

The V3 packaging has a large Apple cutout taking up the whole center of the front of the box. The packaging I received from Koolertron Ltd. had one small Apple cutout in the bottom right corner. In addition, Koolertron Ltd. had placed a sticker on the box stating that it was a V3. Anyone who did not do their due diligence would never have known they were being sold the older inferior V2.

I guess the old saying is true, you get what you pay for. In this instance, I tried to save $15 USD, now I have to go through the hassle of returning the product and purchasing a true legitimate V3 case. If you want to ensure you are getting a real Yoobao Executive Leather Case Version 3, do yourself a favor and order one from XenGadget. That’s my next stop, which sadly should have been my first and only.

Indeed it’s true, you get what you pay for.  Luckily Bethany was able to return the case and bought one from our website (  We sincerely hope that this doesn’t happen to anybody else.
